What I Love Most About Thanksgiving

It’s my favorite time of the year and of course I am most excited about sharing it all with you guys this year! Every year I always get a warm and fuzzy feeling inside of me because of all the love and joy that this time of year brings for people. It’s the time of giving and being with family and celebrating! With today being Thanksgiving I wanted to share with you what my favorite part of this holiday is. I have lots so keep reading to find out what makes me so happy about Thanksgiving!

  1. Family: Although this year neither my family nor Mitchell’s family will be with us on Thanksgiving, I am still very excited to be celebrating this day with Mitchell and the dogs for the first year. In the past, we always had Thanksgiving at our house and my Uncle would fly in from Houston, TX and my grams would drive up and bring LOTS of pies with her! We would all spend the day together talking and catching up and just being one with each other. I think about Thanksgiving in the past now and can’t help but smile. :)

  2. Football: Everybody knows that I love my sports and Thanksgiving is no exception! Me, my dad, my uncle and even my grams would be sitting in the living room while my mom was finishing up cooking and be cheering on our favorite teams. Growing up in Chicago I am born and raised Bears fan, and although they haven’t been the best in past years us Chicagoans never give up on our teams. GO BEARS!!

  3. Crafts: I am a very crafty person and I get that from my Grams for sure! She is the one who taught me so many crafty things that even to this day I get an itch to craft every once in a while. On Thanksgiving she would always bring some sort of craft to the house for the two of us to do while we wait for the food to be ready. One year she brought a craft where we had to build this giant Christmas themed foam house! We had so much fun and I will remember that for years to come.

  4. FOOD!!: I mean I know that I am not the only one who LOVES the food on Thanksgiving. My mom was always such a great cook when it came to Thanksgiving and I miss it more than anything. My all time favorite dish is the stuffing for sure! My mom would make 2 different stuffings: my grandmas stuffing, which she would stuff the turkey with while it cooked & her Italian stuffing with bacon. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! My 2nd favorite dish is Green Been Casserole. I can’t have a Thanksgiving meal without it or else I will be so upset. Plus it is SO easy to make!! Since moving to the south 6 years ago it is so interesting to see all the different dishes that some families have. I would love to hear some of your favorite Thanksgiving Day dishes, so make sure to share with everyone in the comments below!
