Settling In

Well, it’s been 3 weeks since I made the move from Nashville to Tampa and its been quite a crazy few weeks, so I wanted to give y’all a quick update on what we have been up to. I am going to fill you in on all the fun places we have eaten and all the fun things we have discovered at our new home, as well as how my new job is going.

In the short amount of time that I have been here we haven’t done a TON of things, but we have made the most of what we could do so far. That Monday after moving we took the dogs to the dog beach on Davis Island. I was really scared taking Lyla because I wasn’t quite sure how she was going to do. She isn’t the biggest fan of water so I wasn’t sure if she was going to hate or love it. When he got there it took a few minutes for her to get used to the sand, but then before I knew it she was swimming out into the water and just having the BEST time. I was so proud and a little emotional from how much she was loving it.

We haven’t been back to the dog beach since then, but we have taken them to several different dog parks in the area. One in particular is probably my favorite just because it is just such a neat concept. Right in downtown Tampa there is a small dog park that is actually under the highway so it is shaded and breezy and the perfect place to take your dog on a hot summer day. There were so many dogs the day we went and Buster and Lyla had such a blast. It was also Buster’s 6th birthday when we went so it was an extra special trip. After the dog park we went to Culver’s for a birthday celebration Pup-Cup. Watch the video below to see all the fun things we did for Buster’s 6th Birthday:

As far as food is concerned, we haven’t ventured out from cooking at the house as much in the 3 weeks I have been down here. Out of the few places we have been to there are two places in particular that I have loved and can’t wait to go back to. The first one is a place called Black Rock, which was one of the coolest experiences I have ever encountered for dinner. It is this neat steak house that pretty much brings you a raw piece of steak to your table on this black rock and you have to cook it on this rock that its on, and it only takes 20 SECONDS! When they bring the rock to the table it is a scorching 755 degrees, and it takes about 8 hours to heat this rock to its correct temperature. I mean when they brought it out I was very much impressed. I can’t wait to take family and friends there when they come to visit.

The other restaurant that I have really enjoyed is an amazing place called Ford’s Garage. We went to dinner here with some friends and I was very intrigued. They are licensed by Ford and all the decor is car themed. They even brand the tops of the buns on there burgers with there logo which is pretty neat. They are mainly known for their burgers but they have other amazing food as well. They also have different locations all over the state of Florida, so if you are ever vacationing in Florida you should for sure look up and see if there is a Ford’s Garage near you.

As far as how my job is going, I am transitioning very well. Going from one plumbing and tile showroom to another was the most ideal situation because of how easy learning and soaking everything in would be. I love my new co-workers and the office atmosphere is extremely chill. My day to day is WAY different then what I was doing at Kenny & Company but I am loving the new challenge. I am missing my Kenny & Co family SO much but I will see them again soon. I actually just saw them this weekend for Sam’s wedding - which I will be making a blog post all about my short weekend trip to Nashville. So with the being said, my time here so far has been nothing short of amazing. Cant wait for these next few weeks ahead!
